How YOU Can Help Fight Hunger!

Even in these times, we need YOU!

Fighting hunger and poverty is one of the causes we are passionate about at BMUC. From our annual food drive to volunteering to serve dinner at local shelters, we believe no one should go hungry. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel our most recent volunteer effort to provide a meal at the local Men’s and Women’s shelter here in Berkeley due to the coronavirus, BUT that doesn’t mean we are going to stop helping!

There are two ways you can help fight hunger with BMUC.

First, volunteer to “walk” with us at the virtual CROP Walk on March 29th. Due to the current crisis, this event won’t take place in person, but that doesn’t mean the need isn’t still great. Join Team BMUC in fighting hunger locally and around the world by donating to our team and take a selfie while walking on the scheduled day. Post your pic on social media with the tag #TeamBMUC and tag @crophungerwalk.

You can donate by clicking on the link here.

Second, you can still donate to the Alameda County Food Bank with us. We are taking a collection of canned or boxed food from now until the end of April. With the problems sure to be brought on by the lockdown, many families will be struggling to make ends meet. You can either drop your donations off at the church if you happen to be out on essential errands or you can send in donations to the church and we will purchase canned and boxed goods for you. If you send in a donation, just make sure to let us know its for the food drive and if you drop off food, please send me a note (either mail, email, text, or call) so I can bring the food inside and put it in the bin. I’ll also be around so if I know when you’ll be by I can let you inside.

We love supporting the Alameda County Community Food Bank!

Please join us in the fight to end hunger. It’s an ongoing battle but one we can make a difference. I am reminded of this wonderful verse in Scripture which says, “17 But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:17-18) Let us speak in deed and in truth!

Peace in Christ,
Rev. Craig
